1:1 Class at Lamonts Bishops house
In February we hosted the lovely Lisa Jane Lush at Lamont's Bishops House, Perth for a private one on one class, we had such a beautiful fulfilling day creating centrepieces, bouquets and buttonholes.
As a designer, I love to draw inspiration from the seasons and their changing colours, so when I was putting this class together for Lisa it was important that the colours and material we used reflected the end of Summer and start of Autumn, yet were still soft and romantic; to me this creates a sense of belonging and designs appear more natural. The Honey Dijon Garden Rose which is a favorite of mine was the perfect base for our colour palette, along with hints of burgundy, peach, cream, dried elements and seasonal nuts and leaves.
Foraging is a big part of what I do, I talk intensively about this, each stem is chosen with purpose, whether is be branches from the roadside, stems my garden or plants I have collected from the local nursery, I try to bring a little something different to each job I do. For Lisa's class I had a few stems of the cute Zinnia's that I had grown from seed, along with the prettiest burgundy foliage cut from plants I had found at the nursery.
We offer photography as part of our classes, because to me having images of your work that reflects your style and captures the designs perfectly is so important and I can't put enough value on photography. For Lisa's class we were most fortunate to have Katie Grant to capture our day.
Lisa's Testimonial: "I wanted to attend Natalie's October 2017 workshop at the farm but I had my first wedding for the season so couldn't make it. It was actually a blessing in disguise because as I saw more and more of her work I knew Natalie was someone I wanted to spend time with and learn from. I work on my own 95% of the time and I don't get to bounce ideas off anyone or learn from anyone so to me it was really important to grow my skills, These were my primary reasons for choosing to have a 1:1 with Zinnia Floral. We covered centrepiece's, bouquets and buttonholes in a garden style, Natalie was open and easy to talk to answering all my questions and I left feeling confident I had gotten everything I wanted out of the course and more. I would highly recommend a 1:1 for anyone who wants to take their floristry to the next level.
